The perennially opportunistic Knapsekêrel (Blackjack) gambles by spreading its seeds through wind,
water, man and beast. This biodynamically farmed Cabernet Franc is a reminder of the delicate beauty and balance that lies in our dependence on nature.
Only seven rows of biodynamically farmed Cabernet Franc is used for this small batch wine. The Oudeberg vineyard is located on a south facing slope in the Polkadraai Hills. Soil health is maintained with cover crop mixes and the farms trusty waddle of ducks.
Dried thyme, violet, blackberries and glazed cherry on the nose. Influence of the whole bunch ferment is evident, a light palate, concentrated fruit flavors juxtaposed with chalky tannins. Major aging potential. (Dave Nel/David Cope)
