Bosman ADAMA Red in stock…

Bosman ADAMA Red!!!

Bosman Family Vineyards is not only a wine producer. The cellar is part of Bosman Adama, in which 260 permanently employed workers received a 26% stake in the Bosman Adama business in 2009 –  making it a significant role player in the vine and wine growing industry of the Western Cape, and the largest land reform transaction in the history of the South African wine industry.

We have the ADAMA Red blend in stock, and here are their Tasting Notes: “All 8 components of this innovative blend have been vinified separately to preserve & express the unique characteristics of each varietal. The 15% new oak not only complements the generous fruit aromas on the nose but contributes to the structure of the wine as well. The Shiraz is matured in a combination of new American and French oak. While the rest of the wines are matured in second to fifth fill French oak. Just before bottling the blend is made up, differing every year depending on the strengths if the components. Generous flavours of plums, dark cherries and chocolate develop in the glass while the finish is lively with mineral accents. (Shiraz 62%, Mourvedre 14%, Cinsaut 7%, Grenache Noir 5.5%, Primitivo 5.5%, Nero D’Avola 4%, Tempranillo 1%, Durif 1%).”

As with all the Bosman wines, we are very happy to have these on our shelves!

Weekend tasting:

Nitida’s winemaker Helgaard van Schalkwyk is a super nice guy who really enjoys what he does, and he tells us that “I love wine, the making and enjoying thereof, but mostly I love sharing what I do. When we share knowledge and wine, we create a space for understanding and enjoyment that leads to unforgettable memories.”

This weekend we will be tasting the Nitida Riesling, and his Tasting Note says, “Soft, delicate aromas of honeycomb, candied grapefruit, and citrus zest cascade over your palate like a waterfall. Scents of naartjie, dried apricot, and muscats create a vibrant and flavourful mix. A light sprinkling of aromatic cardamom gently lingers. This exquisitely aromatic Riesling pairs perfectly with a Moroccan tagine.”

You can join us to taste the Riesling from Nitida this weekend!

About Us

Have you ever heard about a great wine but could never find a bottle for yourself (to share with friends, of course)? Well, the team at Wine & Company do all the hard work for you! We visit wine farms and attend tastings to find, taste, and then stock wine from the smaller Estates and independent winemakers who buy grapes and produce outstanding wine under their own labels – much the same as the French negociants have been doing for centuries. Given that these winemakers make wine in such small quantities, sometimes just a single barrel, their wine will never be found on the shelves of the major retailers, but only in independent specialist shops like Wine & Company on High Street, Hermanus.

In addition to the great selection of well-known local wines and MCC’s, we also stock craft gin and beer, imported wines, French Champagne, Belgian Ales as well as whisky and other spirits. Wine & Company (established in 1998 by Bartho Eksteen) has a well-earned reputation for stocking hard-to-find small-batch wines and we strive to continue this great tradition. If you purchase a bottle of wine from us and it is faulty we will gladly replace the bottle and return the faulty wine to the winemaker.

Feel free to contact Wine & Company if you need a particular wine and we will do our best to source it for you. We are also able to ship wine locally and to most countries so do ask about international shipping.
