Christian Eedes Tasting Note: Grapes from a Piekenierskloof planted in 2010 at an altitude of 720m above sea level, it was fermented and matured for nine months in an older large-format barrel. A 7% portion of Swartland Chenin Blanc is added before bottling for extra interest. Peach, naartjie, earth, a slight leesy note plus spice on the nose while the palate is well balanced with good fruit concentration matched by tangy acidity, the finish gently savoury. Delivers a lot of flavour despite an alcohol of just 12.52%. Only 596 bottles produced. Chritian Eedes’ rating: 92/100.

Description
James Pietersen Tasting Note: White stone fruit spectrum with some floral elements, a years bottle age have amplified the unity of the wine. On the palate, balanced freshness from picking at 12.5% alcohol only at 24 Feb 2022 in Piekenierskloof. This is a significant consideration as the extended hanging time provided a slow and steady ripening of the clusters without exceeding the critical 12.5% alcohol threshold. The palate is lengthy, with a saline thread containing subtle texture. This was a 100% spontaneous ferment, with 9 months sur lie contact. Bottled with only a slight sulphur addition and aged for a year in bottle prior to release. 100% whole bunch with no skin contact during this vintage.
