THE VINEYARDS For the most part, our vineyards are old dry-farmed bushvines. They represent a bygone era of low-tech high-fidelity viticulture. They capture a sense of place, of identity and of heritage. They tell a part of the Cape's story - a story that goes back centuries.
Hemelrand Vine Garden is a unique vineyard that produces a unique wine. The idea is to bottle the wine just as the vineyard produces it, effectively creating a white field blend that changes every year depending on the vintage conditions. NOTES | Over the past 5 years Palladius has been the wine that grew the most in quality and refinement and much of this has to do with the addition of more vineyards and the improvement of their viticulture. Currently of all our wines, the Palladius, with 17 vineyards, obviously represents the biggest canvas of the Swartland.
A big thanks to the team at Savage and in particular long time assistant winemaker Banele Vakele who will be leaving us to grow his own brand Tembela. We wish Banele all the best and will keep you posted on the new venture he and I are embarking on as partners.
