Winemaker Franco Lourens has been producing wine under his own label since 2016. His philosophy is simple: “We truly believe that the special vineyards and unique sites where our grapes come from, has the biggest influence on our wines. We don’t add any yeast, acid, enzymes or fining agents and we only use older neutral oak barrels for maturation.” His total production is not very big and the brand is still relatively unknown, but it certainly shouldn’t be!

Description
From a Piekenierskloof vineyard planted in 1977. Matured for 10 months in old 500-litre barrels. Pear, nectarine, flowers, hay and earth on the nose while the plate has excellent fruit density and punchy acidity before a persistent and deeply savoury finish. Poised and super-complex, a singular wine. Alc: 13.2%. Christian Eedes’ rating: 97/100.
