Winemaker Franco Lourens has been producing wine under his own label since 2016. His philosophy is simple: “We truly believe that the special vineyards and unique sites where our grapes come from, has the biggest influence on our wines. We don’t add any yeast, acid, enzymes or fining agents and we only use older neutral oak barrels for maturation.” His total production is not very big and the brand is still relatively unknown, but it certainly shouldn’t be!

Description
52% Chenin Blanc, 27% Verdelho, 13% Colombar, 5% Grenache Blanc (five days skin contact) and 3% Palomino sourced variously from Piekenierskloof, Stellenbosch and Voor-Paardeberg. Matured for 10 months in old 300- and 500-litre barrels. Some floral perfume before stone fruit, orange, spice and a little waxy character on the nose while the palate has good fruit weight, moderate acidity and a gently savoury finish. A wine with a subtle oxidative quality, nicely tangy with a little bit of phenolic grip. Alc: 13%. Christian Eedes’ rating 94/100.
